Dressing Up with Tobi

As a stylist it is always fun and exciting for me to shop, curate and make my clients look and feel their best. Whether it be helping someone find their perfect wedding dress, to building a transitional work wardrobe, or for that fabulous date night outfit, I have done it all. I was nervous yet super excited at the opportunity to collaborate with Tobi. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and picked some adventurous pieces that still made me feel good (i.e. comfortable, while highlighting my best features.) It was great to style these pieces with some staple items in my wardrobe. And what better place than in the beautiful California weather.

The first piece that I styled is a deep red velvet midi dress with a plunging criss-cross back. Not only is the color fabulous, but the fit and length were great. I am not the biggest fan of skirts or dresses above the knee, so I was so pleased that it hit me at the perfect place, while still being young and fun with a playful back. With my Zara coat that I bought in 2015 as a steal during an iconic yearly sale, and my H&M ankle boots with the fringe - I was dolled up just enough to feel a bit more special. Along with my everyday gold Alex & Ani and collection of bangles, this look was a hit!

This sweater dress is one of the softest pieces I have ever laid my hands on. As soon as I had it in my possession I knew it would pair perfectly with my Aldo over-the-knee boots. While I am more conservative about low-cut tops, I fell in love with the “party in the back” aspect. Not wanting to hide the back of this chunky turtleneck, I opted for a high topknot bun with simple jewels. I can’t wait to wear this to a weekend brunch once I am back in New York City.

I was definitely pleasantly surprised by the navy maxi dress - since that is often my go to spring and summer style, I was not expecting the fit to be so stellar. The cold-shoulder look was executed so well on this piece, while still providing me with ample arm movement. It was fitted through the hip, while still having a great flow in the skirt. I kept it simple for this look, with some nude open-toe slides, but am excited to pair it with my favorite wedge sandals this spring!

Tobi is the perfect place to find those great shapes that you keep coming back to, with a extra flair and added twist. Make sure you check them out, as I know I already have my eye on some pieces for the next season. And I might just have to pull out the red dress for my birthday in 5 days ;)
